Frankston Yacht Club Learn 2 Sail Program
Thank you for joining our Learn 2 Sail Program. Sailing is an exciting and rewarding activity, but like all water sports it carries inherent risks. Please read this form carefully before participating.
Acknowledgement of Risk
I understand that participation in sailing and related activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:
- Slips, trips and falls on jetties, ramps and boats.
- Capsizing or falling into the water.
- Changing weather and water conditions.
- Collision with boats or fixed objects.
- Physical exertion that may result in injury.
- Risks associated with being on or near the water.
I acknowledge that these risks cannot be completely eliminated, even with appropriate supervision and safety procedures.
Safety Agreement
I agree to:
- Follow all instructions given by instructors and safety boat crew.
- Wear the provided personal flotation device (PFD) whenever directed.
- Participate in a respectful and safe manner.
- Inform an instructor immediately if I feel unwell or unsafe.
I understand that instructors may remove me from an activity if they believe it is necessary for safety.
Emergency Treatment
In the event of an emergency, I authorise club officials to arrange appropriate first aid, medical treatment and, if necessary, ambulance transport.
I understand that any associated medical costs remain my responsibility.
Liability Acknowledgement
I acknowledge that I participate voluntarily and understand the inherent risks involved in sailing.
To the extent permitted by Australian law, I release and indemnify Frankston Yacht Club, its volunteers, instructors and officials from claims arising from my participation, except where liability cannot legally be excluded, including for conduct amounting to gross negligence or where consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law apply.
Participant Declaration
I confirm that:
- I have read and understood this form.
- I have had the opportunity to ask questions.
- I agree to the conditions of participation.
